Sneak Peak At A Slipper Swell Run To The South West.
Last week in west oz we had a large swell hit the south west, and produced some quite large waves and also so hectic wipe outs.
This swell run was different to any other i had done this year cause i was lucky enough to have one of my best mates who doesnt surf as much any more to come along, James Catto.
I am pretty sure before this swell he had only surfed maybe twice or three times in the past five months but i tell you what he is still a bloody mad man.
His first wave was probably the biggest wave i had seen all day and i have never seen someone so excited and frothed to get back on the rope and throw himself into a solid 20-25foot+ plus size wave and the fade back and try get pitted as deep as possible. Absolute mad man, but its good cause he gets you phyced up to get a bigger one and he has is always onto it out there with so much experience so you actually feel safe with him.
Our journey started so early... it was only 3:00am in the morning and freeeeezzzzzing!
I picked up Cattz and one of my mates Alex Miller and then headed straight down.
(miller manggg slept the whole way down and back... super sloth..aha)
We drove back later that arvo and was pack in Perth just in time for some peak hour traffic, but was all worth it for the day we scorred.
The forecast was to be nearly one of the swell of this year, but where we went it was not quite as big as forecasted but was still very big to say the least.
The wind was forecasted to what you would think of as perfect, but where we went out to this bombie the wind was another ten knots atleast stronger, and was makeing things alot more hectic putting offshore chops of two foot up the face of the wave, makeing speed humps and straining the leg and back muscles but is all worth the feeling after.
Stay tuned for the photoes and footage from this day soon to be released.
Big thanks to Ross and the guys at Redbull for giving me wings on the journey and keeping me and the jet ski powered!
Yeww!

Trigg Wins The Surfboardroom Surf League 2010.

%2520pic%2520-%2520woolacott.jpg)
WA's premiere interclub surfing event the 'surfboardroom surf league' was completed in grand style over the weekend at scarborough beach. The states longest running and most prestigious club surfing competition was held in ideal conditions, with fun punchy 2-4 foot waves.
The surfboardroom Surf League is a unique event which has been going strong since 1986, and 2010 saw eight of the best clubs in the state battle it out in the closest event in recent history.
Each club could field a team of their best six surfers, consisting of one senior (over 28), four opens and one junior surfer (under 18).
Coonsistand waves rolled through for the final and it was trigg point out the blocks with a great start thanks to there power surfer Mitch Taylor, who was in fine touch for his club all day.
Taylors fast and commited and controlled surfing proved to be the difference for his team, giving them an early advantage which other clubs found hard to match. The gifted natural footee smashed each of his four waves and completed some high risk aerial manoeuvres on his way to picking up the events highest scoring wave and to be awarded the prestigious Perry Hatchett award for is outstanding performance.
"Surf League is always such a great event. I've been part of the trigg team for the past few years, but this was the first time as a power surfer. I was stressing a little bit, i got one good one then had abit of a meltdown waiting for another set, but i stuck a few finners and the judges liked them. To help the boys get over the line was classic becuase it was a super close event this year'. said Taylor.
Final results:
1st Trigg Boardriders. (yewwwwww)
2nd Geraldton Boardriders.
3rd Margaret River Boardriders.
4th Mandurah Boardriders.
5th City Beach Boardriders and Cottesloe Boardriders.
7th Contacio and Yallingup Boardriders.

Mouth Wide Open!
This was yesterday (Thursday the 23rd of June) after we spent the whole morning checking several different surf spots in the freezing perth cold, and then we ended up giving up and calling it a day, and that was only by 9 30 am.
Until we decided by about 11 am when the sun had heated up abit, and the offshore had backed of aswell to head down to a uncrowded little beachies for abit of perth winter sunny fun.

Back Breaking Barrelz!
This day we were up bright and early and it was freezing cold, but we still did the solid and back breaking ski mission, and when we got there it was pretty evil with the offshore howling.
I was in the water first and got busted up on my first wave and hit the reef, but it cleaned up and got alot better as the day went on.
